3rd February 2003 Windsurfing: Golf Course Car Park, Borth Wind Direction: NW Wind Stength: 30 knots Surf / Sea State: 3 foot messy surf Air Temperature: Sea Temperature: Weather: Sunny spells Max Speed: Distance Covered: I got to the beach this afternoon and was greeted by sunshine and 30 knot winds, so quickly rigged my 4.5m sail and little wave board and got straight out on the water. My first run was fine, straight out over the whitewater, a few biggish jumps off the steeper waves and then blasting across the lumpy seas out the back. Made a good gybe on the outside, and then had a few little waves to ride on the way back in. I wasn't completely powered up, so I came in, let off a bit of outhaul and went out again. This time I hada little more power and punched out through the waves again. Then a big wave jacked up in front of me, with another wave right behind it, so I went for a big jump in order to clear both of them. made it, nicely controlled in the air, soptted my landing on the back of the second wave when all of a sudden there was half a tree right where I was about to land... BANG!! The side of my board hit the tree. I got wrenched off the board but luckily managed to avoid any bodily contact with the tree. My board wasn't quite so lucky and was now sporting a big chunk out of the rail a couple of inches from the tail. GREAT... So that was the end of that session. Grrrrr. |
